3 Do’s and 3 Don’ts of Wearing Leather Clothing

What decade do you think of when we say: leather pants?

If you thought of the 70’s or 80’s you are quite right! Those were the days when the biker styles became famous.

Remember Fonzie and Jim Morrison? They are just two of the icons that made everyone go crazy for leather.

But the love for leather did not remain in the past. Today, leather is back, and stronger than ever! The styles that in the past started a revolution have evolved and reappeared this twenty-first century classier and more desirable.

Today’s leather looks are highly sophisticated even when casual. The classic black and brown still rule the scene; however, new vivid colors are also showing up, giving leather pieces, and you, a new and unique look.

We know that fashion changes with the blink of an eye, and when talking leather, the wearer sets the pace with his/her own unique style, that today includes leather hats, coats, dresses, skirts, pants, and much more!

However, as with everything else, a lot of freedom can bring excess… and an excess of leather is a painful sight.

Here we give you a list of 3 do’s and 3 don’ts of wearing leather, so that no matter what leather garment you wear, you do it in full style:

DON’TS

1.  Do not wear leather over leather, it is just too much. A leather piece is very powerful, and combining them may make you look like a dominatrix.

 2.  Less is more. Leather is, by nature, sexy and classy. You do not have to show a lot of skin to make a statement. Avoid wearing a leather garment with a very provocative top that leaves nothing to the imagination… unless you’re going for a less-than-classy look.

3.  Do not go too tight. Leather clothing can be high quality or low quality, but if it does not fit your shape, it will look bad, period.

Before you purchase any leather piece, take a good look in the mirror, ask those around you, do whatever is necessary to make sure you look good in it.

DO’S

1. Combine a pair of leather pants with a classy hip-length blazer or a large sweater.

2. Try the Jim Morrison style and combine a trendy leather garment with lightweight t-shirts or blouses. Talk about looking classy and cool!

3. Add hip accessories; these go well with every attire. However, for leather make sure you go this way: layer chains, thick necklaces, and boots or shoes that suit your disposition.

To learn more about the right way to wear leather, research how some celebrities wear it. It is very easy to ascertain if they hit or miss, and there will be a lot of people commenting on it, providing valuable feedback that you can apply to your personal style.
