San Sebastian
Reason Number 2,402,212 I want to go back to Spain, besides the simple fact that its been two years since I lived there and I miss it terribly? I never made it to San Sebastian, Spain, and I am dying to go.
San Sebastian is in Northern Basque County, which is one of the reasons my parents were uneasy about allowing 20 year old me traveling there with a group of girls who, let’s face it, we stuck out like a sore thumb. However there are many reasons I very much want to make it to this beautiful town. Why, you ask? You’re about to find out!
Where’s its at: The top of Spain, bordering France.
- San Sebastian isn’t necessarily known for its churches, art or cultural icons. However, they have an amazing beach, La Concha.
- The town is known for its restaurants and bars. Now, I’m not a huge partier, but I do love me some sangria, manchego cheese, and paella.
- Ever read the amazing book, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway? It takes place in San Sebastian. I read it the first time when I was 17 (and again in college, and again on my own) and just knew then, I wanted to see this town.
- San Sebastian is near Pamplona, where they have the Running of the Bulls.
- My older cousin, who is my role model, went here and said it was one of her most favorite cities/towns in Spain, and just amazing.
