As you can imagine motorhomes are popular targets for thieves, too big to be put in a garage when not in use and always on the road when they are, motorhomes as well as being expensive in their own right are often filled with expensive contents. It makes sense therefore, to ensure your motorhome is safe and secure.
Obviously there are simple things you can do to secure your motorhome, such as closing the windows, locking all doors (even when you just pop out for a minute or two), and avoid leaving valuable on display. Remember it only takes a few seconds for an opportunist thief to take advantage.
There are other things that you can do to secure your motorhome but these will come at a cost, however, make sure you tell your insurance company about them as it may reduce your premium.

Wheel Clamps – Stick some wheel clamps on your car and ensure that it doesn’t go anywhere without your say so.

An Alarm – Your motorhome will most likely already be equipped with one of these, however, if not invest in a high quality piece of kit and make sure you advertised the fact that your motorhome is alarmed to ward off the thieves.

An Immobiliser – Again depending on the model of your motorhome, it will probably already come equipped with an immobiliser. Each time you switch off your engine, the immobiliser with automatically activate.

Steering Wheel Locks – Can be a bar-lock, circular lock or even a chain and padlock. Whichever you choose, steering wheel locks are a great visual deterrent.

A Tracking Device – This is a piece of equipment that monitors your vehicle 24/7. When stolen, a signal is sent by remote control to a control centre.

Gear Locks – Allow you to lock the gear stick to the hand brake.
When selecting the appropriate security device(s) for your motorhome, make sure that you invest in the highest quality product you can afford.
